Slope Factors with the Area Tool

It is possible to apply a Slope (or pitch) factor to an Area. This factor can be applied to an Elevation view or a Plan view. The Slope factor extrapolates the actual area of a sloped area shown in two (2) dimensions on a plan. This tool is used mostly to measure angled roof and siding areas.

Ex. # 1 : A roof area with a 12/12 (or 45°) slope, measured without a slope factor :

Here is the result (54.9 sq.ft.) :

Now, let's apply the appropriate Slope factor (12/12 or 45°) in elevation view in the Properties grid.

It is also possible to insert the Slope factor while creating an Area group :

Here is the new result (77.6 sq.ft.) :

Note : Only the dimensions subject to the Slope factor have been affected (blue zones). The horizontal dimensions, which are not affected by the Slope factor, have remained identical. Active Takeoff detects the horizontal lines (only when the "Elevation View" is selected). It will not apply a Slope factor to these lines as long as they do not deviate from the horizontal by ± 3°.

Here is the result in the Properties grid :
