The Report

The Report editing, printing and exporting functions are found in the Report tab.

The ribbon contains the report's editing, printing and exporting functions.

The report viewer displays an overview of the report according to the selected options.

The "Options" functions.

The "Filter Groups" button offers three (3) report configuration options :


  • Filter by plans. This filter displays all occurrences of a group object for each plan page where they are present. Also displayed is the total of all occurrences of this group on all pages.
  • Filter by groups. This filter displays the total of all occurrences of a group on all pages.
  • Filter by layers. This filter displays groups sorted by plans, then by layers.

A black arrow at the bottom of the button will show the measurement system and accuracy settings.


  • Filter by plans. This filter displays all occurrences of a group object for each plan page where they are present. Ckeckmarks in the treeview allow to include (checked) or exclude (unchecked) a group in the report. Checking or unchecking is performed with a mouse click.

In the Estimating Report :

  • Filter by layers. This filter displays groups sorted by plans, then by layers. Ckeckmarks in the treeview allow to include (checked) or exclude (unchecked) a group in the report. Checking or unchecking is performed with a mouse click.

In the Estimating Report :  


The "Modify Settings" button allows the report to be configured with three (3) options. They are presented as checkboxes and appear as a ribbon at the bottom of the interface:

Sales taxes that should be accounted for in the Estimating Report are configurable in the Estimating Report Settings:

Up to 2 taxes can be entered, compoundable if needed with the "Tax on tax?" checkbox.


  • Show Project Information. Project information is displayed at the top of the report and is inherited from previously entered when creating a new project. This information can be edited or modified by selecting the "Properties" item in the "File" menu.
  • Show Comments. This option displays associated comments to groups entered in the "Properties" panel of the "Home" tab.
  • Show Invisible Objects. This option displays all groups switched to "Invisible" in the "Properties" or the "Groups" panels of the "Home" tab.

The "Print Report" button

The "Print Report" button prints the report on a printer selected by the user, whether on paper or on PDF support. A Windows printer selection interface will be opened.

The "Export" functions

The "Export to Excel" button opens Excel and exports the data of the selected groups generated by Active Takeoff in an Excel spreadsheet. The export format can be set "By Plans", "By Objects" or "By Layers"  like in the report. This setting is selected with the "Filter Groups" button.

The "Export to XML" button will generate an XML file containing all report information previously selected with the "Options" functions. The XML files can be opened with text or XML editors or by Excel.

The "Export to HTML" button will generate an HTML file containing all report information previously selected with the "Options" functions. The HTML files can be opened with web browsers.

The "Export to PDF" button will produce a PDF format report as it can be seen on the screen.

The exported reports are saved, by default, in this directory : ...\Documents\Active Takeoff\My reports
